Three Assistant Professorships in Economics
The Department of Economics at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Faculty of Economics and Business, Reus, Catalonia, Spain) invites applications for three Assistant Professorships in all fields of Economics.
Note that one of the three offered positions (profile Economic Theory) must be filled by the end of December 2025. Recruitment starts immediately and we will expedite the process to reach a decision.

We are looking for outstanding candidates from internationally well-recognized PhD programs. Priority will be given to candidates with at least 1 year of post-doctoral experience.
With respect to teaching responsibilities, the selected candidates are expected to initially teach in the undergraduate program and supervise students’ work. Teaching will be either in Catalan or Spanish, with the possibility of teaching partially in English. To facilitate the candidate’s research activity, teaching load is reduced below regular course work for tenured faculty.
The successful applicants are expected to prove potential for publication in top-ranked journals. Also, the successful candidates should collaborate with the established research groups of the Department in applying for external research funding, and contributing to knowledge exchange and dissemination of research results.
The Department of Economics aims to conduct research in a broad range of areas within Economics and offers undergraduate and graduate programs at the highest level. The Department employs approximately 40 faculty members and 10 PhD students. Our senior faculty members have a well-recognized publication record and are internationally connected. In addition, there is group of junior researchers coming from high-quality PhD programs that have recently joined the Department.

Economics at EIT is recruiting for two outstanding, full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellows to focus on the economic implications of AI and Robotics, under the leadership of Professor Andrew J. Scott. Successful candidates will be working on a high profile and impactful project as well as pursuing frontier research.
This is a rare opportunity to conduct rigorous economic research on AI and Robotics alongside the researchers and engineers building and using them. Your Role:
Research will combine a broad-based focus on a range of relevant topics on the economic and social implications of AI and Robotics as well as focused deep dives on particular issues.
You will interact closely with leading academics, practitioners and policy experts and be expected to take the lead on driving research forward and coordinating with research assistants / predoctoral research fellows.
Expected outputs include academic research papers as well as wider forms of output reaching broader public and policy audiences. The environment is high performing with an emphasis on delivering output whilst building knowledge.

Requirements:
Desirable Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
· A PhD (or due to complete in 2026) in Economics, or a related discipline. A strong background in AI and Robotics and their economic consequences is an advantage
· Evidence of intellectual excellence and the ability to work independently
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deal with a broad range of interested groups
· A very strong technical skillset: theoretical modelling, econometric application, causal inference, experience with large datasets, Git, Python, etc.

We expect the Postdoctoral Research Fellow to pursue independent high-quality research, working closely with senior colleagues in the EIT Economics Department, while fostering collaboration and opportunity for applied economics research across the wider EIT Programmes.

The work will involve collecting and harmonizing micro-level data from countries at different levels of development to construct novel facts on the accumulation and utilization of human skills in a variety of contexts. The Research Assistant will also collaborate on the development and estimation of theoretical models that will be used to assess the impacts of several educational and training policies on economic development. The job will involve close collaboration and frequent interactions with the Project Leader and his collaborators.
The position is particularly suitable for someone interested in pursuing a PhD in Economics or related fields. Pre-doctoral Research Assistants previously working on this project have been admitted to prestigious PhD programs at New York University and Imperial College London.

About the projects

· Postdoctoral Position in Microeconomic Theory. The successful candidate will work with Prof. Lorenzo Bastianello as part of the CPJ “Risques nouveaux et Dynamiques d’émergence” (ISI-RIDER) project. We seek applicants with a strong mathematical background and research interests in microeconomic theory, particularly in decision theory and game theory. The position focuses on modeling decision-making under severe uncertainty, that is, in contexts characterized by emerging risks, limited data, and contradictory information. The project aims to produce at least one publication in a top-ranked journal.
· Postdoctoral Position in Behavioral Economics / Cognitive Neuroscience. The successful candidate will work with the project team (in close collaboration with AFM Martinangeli and/or Jean-Claude Dreher, or other team members) to develop behavioral studies allowing for cognitive analyses and which, in a second phase, can be extended to model-based fMRI investigations. About the Lemma Laboratory
The Laboratory of Mathematical Economics and Applied Microeconomics (LEMMA) was founded in 2003 by economists, mathematicians and computer scientists within the University Paris-Panthéon-Assas. LEMMA hosts about thirty permanent members (including numerous international researchers) and fifteen PhD students. RESEARCH COLLABORATION:
The SCALES Postdoctoral Fellow will co-develop and lead a faculty-mentored interdisciplinary research project addressing a significant climate, environment, or sustainability challenge. A final research proposal and budget will be developed jointly with the mentoring team following the Fellow's arrival, allowing flexibility for the Fellow to shape the project's direction and methods.
The preliminary description of the research project is as follows:
The Fellow will lead an interdisciplinary research project titled "Beyond Avoided Damages: Linking Risk, Behavior, and Finance in Climate Resilience Planning." The project examines how flood risk and resilience investments influence economic behavior, real estate markets, and municipal fiscal capacity, and how these dynamics can be leveraged to value and finance climate resilience at scale.
We seek a Fellow with a strong background in applied economics or finance who is eager to collaborate with engineers, climate scientists, economists, and policy scholars. Working with faculty mentors and partners through RESILE (Risk Science for Climate Resilience), CIRCAD (Center for Innovation in Risk, Catastrophes and Decisions), the Nicholas Institute, and the Economics department, the Fellow will: - Lead empirical analyses linking flood risk, resilience investments, and urban economic outcomes;
- Examine fiscal and financial feedback, including impacts on property values, tax revenues, and insurance markets; and
- Collaborate on the development of an integrated modeling and decision-support framework that links risk, behavioral, and finance.
TEACHING & ENGAGEMENT:
The Fellow will contribute to Duke's Climate & Sustainability Fluency Framework through curricular innovation, student mentorship, and applied engagement. Teaching responsibilities will emphasize module development and co-teaching rather than independent course ownership.
Specifically, the Fellow will develop and pilot a cross-listed module on Valuing and Financing Climate Resilience, with mentorship from the Department of Economics and collaboration across Trinity, Nicholas, Pratt, Fuqua, Sanford Schools. The Fellow will also mentor students through Climate+ and Bass Connections projects and co-design applied workshops with RESILE and the Nicholas Institute to engage municipal and industry partners in resilience valuation and decision-support applications. These activities will advance SCALES's goal of cultivating climate scholars who connect research with real-world impact.

What is the pre-doctoral research fellow’s role?
Pre-doctoral fellows work with a professor of the economics department to support their research, with substantive opportunities for on-the-job learning about academic research in economics. Pre-docs may be involved in all stages of research – brainstorming, literature reviews, project management, data analysis, and writing. The predoctoral position is a full-time in-person commitment (70% research, 30% on-the-job-learning).
The predoctoral fellow will become part of a team working on several projects in economic development in Sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on land markets and rural finance. The projects are based on field experiments and on the analysis of administrative databases.

Upon successful evaluation in the second year, the appointment may be extended for an additional three years. Designed to foster the professional development of the appointee, the position allows the Fellow to focus primarily on his or her own research while teaching three courses per academic year at the graduate level.
Applicants must hold – or provide evidence of imminent completion of – a doctorate in economics. We welcome candidates working in all areas of international economics, including but not limited to monetary policy and central banking, trade and international finance, growth and development economics, environmental economics, and political economy or public choice, provided their research is clearly connected to international or macroeconomic issues. Preference will be given to applicants who employ empirical or quantitative methods. Excellent knowledge of econometrics and strong programming skills (preferably in R) are therefore an asset. A record of research achievement at the international level, a strong agenda for future research, and previous teaching experience – preferably at the graduate level – are essential.

The Study Center Gerzensee, foundation of the Swiss National Bank, is a non-profit provider of services to economists in academia and policy. The Study Center offers excellent graduate training and continuing education in economics. The Study Center is also an internationally renowned forum for economic debate. We have a particular focus on topics relevant to central banking.

This position is targeted towards economists who are passionate about high-quality research with policy relevance. The successful candidate will be aiming for a career as an academic or as a research economist in a policy institution. We seek candidates preferably in areas relevant to central banking (monetary economics, financial intermediation, macroeconomics, macrofinance, macroeconometrics). You will be eager to engage with the world-class scholars who teach in our course programs and who attend our conferences.
The successful candidate will produce excellent research, thus contributing to the academic visibility of the Study Center. The position comes with research funding for conference attendance. You will also provide academic support to our various course programs and conferences. Two-thirds of your time will be ringfenced for your own self-directed research. One-third of your time will be dedicated to supporting the Study Center’s academic activities.
